You want to take your time when you’re enjoying your meal and savor the moment, especially after a long day and when you’re hungry. Being rushed to finish your meal will only kill the mood.
A tourist from China recently claimed that she was rushed to finish 2 plates of meals at a Bah Kut Teh restaurant in Langkawi. The woman took to her Douyin account and vented her anger about her unhappy experience of being chased away before she could even finish her dinner. According to her, she entered the restaurant at 8:43 pm and in less than 10 minutes, her food was served.
At 9 pm, she was told by the restaurant workers that they were going to call it a night.
“If you were going to close at 9 pm, why didn’t you tell me earlier? At least I could decide if I was going to eat here or not,” she said in the video.
She explained that she wouldn’t have chosen to dine in there if she knew they were preparing to close.
“This will never happen in China,” the tourist added.
“I never chased her away, she wasn’t in a good mood”
On the other hand, the restaurant owner denied the tourist’s claims and said that was not what happened. In an interview with China Press, the owner said the tourist was not in a good mood after she had some beer.
“She had finished her meals and she was just sitting there having some beers. I never chased her away, and I even told her to take her time.”
The restaurant owner admitted that even if the tourist wanted to sit until 10 pm, he would’ve waited for her.
At that time, his workers were closing the outdoor area, which did not affect the tourist at all since she was seated inside the restaurant.
“She was not in a good mood and started getting angry after having some beers. I’ve been in this business for 23 years and had a lot of tourists, I’ve never chased anyone away,” the owner explained.

To those who happen to dine in at the last minute, what was your experience like? As for the business operators, would you wait for customers to finish their meal when it’s already past your business hours?
