Puchong folks, you have certainly heard of, and maybe even visited SetiaWalk Mall which used to be among the most visited places in Puchong, especially before the pandemic hit.
Unfortunately, not every mall in the country survived after the Movement Control order was lifted. Recently, in the Facebook group 蒲种人@Puchong People @Penduduk Puchong, a Malaysian shared a series of images that showcases SetiaWalk’s current fate.
The pictures show the garden area of the mall which used to be filled with visitors, especially during weekend nights who hung out at the eateries.
The images below also show that a lot of retail spaces are currently for sale.
As of now, SetiaWalk Mall is still operational. However, given how some of the retail spaces have been left unoccupied, some of us may wonder what fate has in store for the mall in Puchong.
Malaysians’ take on the mall
The post has gained the attention of Puchong residents, who have mostly visited the place during its glory days.
They have also shared their take on what may have sealed the fate of the mall. Some blame it on the previous MCO, while others say the management of the mall has failed the place.
‘I believe its due to management issues. I used to visit the place to restock my fruits and go to the gym there thrice every week. Back then, the pubs and cafes dominated the area with live bands and pool games. Good old days.’
‘One MCO and this place got KO-ed.’
‘Terrible management.’
‘The management is really bad here.’
‘This place is not easy to navigate. The space is so narrow.’
‘The rental is too high.’
A user also noted that the residents above the mall had complained about the noise in the past, which might have caused the bars down below to cease their operations and move somewhere else.
Fellow Klang Valley residents, have you ever visited SetiaWalk during its glory days? What were your fondest memories at the place?
