We are facing troubled times. We’re trying to avoid an infectious disease that is killing people by staying home, while others are out not only on the front lines battling the Covid-19 virus, but some are also helping to ensure that the country and the people are well taken care of.
These people include restaurant workers, cashiers and store clerks who ensure that the people have food to eat during the Movement Control Order, and also army, police and security personnel who are helping to ensure that the peace is maintained and that no one gets too rowdy.
It cannot be easy on them out there, especially if it’s already hard for us just to stay home, which is why it’s only fair that they have something to turn to keep them going. One security guard was photographed taking some time out to send a prayer up, hopefully for his family, for his friends, for the people and most importantly for himself during this Covid-19 outbreak, as showcased by Jahabar Sadiq.

He sat alone, eyes closed, in silent prayer, towards the Masjid Jamek mosque across the river, towards the kiblat, the direction of prayer or where the Kaaba in Mecca is.
No sound escaped his lips. His eyes, his clasped hands, his head bent slightly forward said it all. He then opened his hands to clasp his head. Prayer ended.”
“He’s a man on duty in the time of coronavirus. Out in the open while the rest of our country stays in. He’s one of those on the front line, keeping Malaysia safe. The least we can do is support those efforts, staying in while they do their part. God doesn’t need a crowd, the virus does,” Jahabar added.
We should be truly thankful for those who are willing to put themselves in harm’s way in order for everyone else to be safe. If we’re scared of this virus while sitting at home, imagine how they would be feeling. Hence, we should all remain at home and follow the instructions given by medical professionals so that the virus can be contained, not just for us, but for them.
