A Malaysian teacher was detained by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) for an alleged sexual assault.
The 32-year-old man is facing a charge of raping a 14-year-old student inside a car at the parking lot of a shopping mall in Penang.

The suspect turned himself in after a report was lodged against him
The man, who is a secondary school teacher, was brought to the Balik Pulau Magistrate’s Court this morning (3 October) for a remand process, and he will be detained for four days until 6 October to assist in the investigation.
According to the charge, the assault took place in November 2024, and the suspect turned himself him to the police at the Barat Daya Police station after the victim lodged a report about the incident. The 14-year-old victim is a student from the same school where the suspect was working.
The incident is said to have taken place at a mall in Persiaran Bayan Indah, Penang.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Chia Huey Ting, and the matter is being investigated under Section 376(2) of the Penal Code for rape.
If found guilty, the suspect will face a jail term of not less than 10 years, but not more than 20 years, and will also be liable to whipping, as reported by Harian Metro and Sinar Harian.
