The prototype Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) Hydrogen Vehicle (H2V) is fully assembled and is currently out and about in Isthmus, Sarawak, for its Engineering Run.
The ART is a driverless vehicle, powered by hydrogen fuel cells, in a two-line hybrid metro project forming part of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS), which is developed by the Sarawak state government-owned Sarawak Metro.
The MYNEWSHUB Twitter page recently shared a video of the ART on its Engineering Run and congratulated the state authorities on their efforts to diversifying public transportation.
They wrote, “Congratulations, Sarawak state government.”
“The vehicle will run on a dedicated trackless lane that uses rubber tired. Each vehicle can carry up to 300 passengers, with a speed of up to 70km/hr.”
While the vehicle is currently conducting its Engineering Run on the roads of Kuching, its designated lane is said to still be under construction for the time being.
According to Sarawak Metro, the implementation of KUTS is to minimise traffic congestion on the city’s roads while spurring productivity and economic growth.
“As Sarawak aspires to become a developed and high-income state by 2030, a reliable transport system is vital in mobilising greater productivity and economic growth,” they shared.
