Robberies can happen anywhere as long as there’s a presence of money. This time, 2 robbers decided to break into Starbucks but they didn’t have any luck with their “hunting”.
Just recently, a picture that shows a break-in at a Starbucks outlet in Nusa Bestari, Johor circulated on social media. It was originally shared in the Facebook group (新山邻里群)新山,皇后,士古来,大学城,nusa bestari, bukit indah, perling, and yellow barrier tape was set up outside the coffee house.
In the original posting, not much information was available, however, a police report was lodged by 1 of the staff at Starbucks, and here’s what the police said about the incident.
“They escaped… with RM10”
The incident took place at 4 a.m. when no one was in the store. Both robbers damaged the front glass door to gain entry, and the damaged glass door caused the outlet a loss of RM3,500.
The robbers, however, managed to escape with only RM10 which was kept in the deposit box. Well, perhaps the robbers thought it was better than leaving the place empty-handed.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Rahmat Ariffin said that the 23-year-old staff lodged a police report immediately after he reached the scene. Investigations under Section 457 of the Penal Code for break-ins, are underway to apprehend the suspects.
“No injuries were reported because no one was at the store when the robbery took place,” Rahmat said, as reported by Oriental Daily.
As of now, police are reviewing the outlet’s closed-circuit television to establish the suspects’ identities.
Regardless, aside from the damaged glass door, we’re glad that no injuries were reported and no heavy loss in terms of cash was involved.
