Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub has announced that the Menu Rahmah programme will be extended to public higher education institutions (IPTAs) after Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The programme, which offers meals at RM5 each will be initially available at 20 IPTAs in the Klang Valley and will also be expanded to private higher education institutions (IPTS) in the future.
As reported by BERNAMA, Salahuddin said he had discussed the matter with Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Khaled Nordin and he agreed that both ministries undertake this programme together. Moreover, the designated location is under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education and the menu itself is under the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
Since its introduction, Menu Rahmah has been a hit with Malaysians; accordingly, Salahuddin said that his ministry will expand it further. An engagement session with fast-food chains KFC and McDonald’s will be held next week with the purpose of implementing Menu Rahmah. The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister also revealed that the Chinese Food Shops Association are also interested in participating in the programme.
