Fried chicken is the go-to comfort food for many of us, because after all, what’s not to love?

And if you are a fried chicken connoisseur, you would definitely have heard of the popular Kyochon 1991 franchise in Malaysia. Serving some of the best Korean fried chicken that is all the rage now, customers flock to their store to sink their teeth into their chicken coated in special Korean sauces.

But unfortunately, if you are hoping to enjoy their fried chicken over the Labour Day long weekend at their outlet in Pavilion KL, you may be sorely disappointed as it was announced on their official Facebook page that they are experiencing staff shortage.

KyoChon shared a frustrating post about their recent ordeal. In the post, it was obvious how distraught they were.

It seems that their store in Pavilion was suddenly raided by the authorities and as a result, their foreign staff were taken out of the restaurant and worse, handcuffed and forced to squat the roadside like they were criminals!

Netizens who saw the post were outraged at the treatment of the workers and offered their support to Kyochon Malaysia. “Hope everything will be okay. Hope they are safe, you’ve got our support.”

They voiced out their concerns that the workers should not be treated like that as they had valid working permits with them. “This is so weird. There’s absolutely no reason for them to be treated as if they did not have authentic paperwork. Where’s the humanity?”

Others were more concerned on how Malaysian authorities are handling people during their operations. “Malu lah when the authorities themselves behave like this. They are supposed to be the one to make us feel safe. Not the other way around!”

Some of the more cheeky users even told Kyochon that they didn’t give enough “donations” to the authorities which is why their workers were not released.

We hope Pavilion’s Kyochon 1991 staff will be released soon and without harm. And that the authorities will be more respectful towards other people.
