In the midst of rapid development of buildings, we tend to forget that we are at the mercy of mother nature. Greed often blinds us of the dangers that could happen if we treat the environment poorly.
Malaysia is no stranger to natural disasters involving landslides but most of the time, the landslide is actually triggered by human activities, meddling with how nature works. This can be seen with the recent scare experienced by the folks of Ampang Jaya.
A total of 8 houses were asked to be evacuated as the walls of their houses and the ground nearby their area have experienced huge cracks which could lead to a severe landslide. These houses are built on the hill slope of Bukit Antarabangsa, an area prone to landslides. According to News MPB, the walls to strengthen the integrity of the ground there has also suffered some cracks.
These days there are more and more hillside houses being built everywhere and some apartments can be so tall. Yes you will get the beautiful view but how sure are you that the ground that the apartment is built on is stable enough to endure such pressure? We are at the mercy of mother nature and it would be wise if we don’t put ourselves in unnecessary danger or risk.
