Wearing a face mask have been scientifically proven to reduce the risk of being infected with Covid-19, but what if you want to eat while wearing a mask? Well, researchers in Mexico have created the solution to just that, by creating a nose-only Covid mask. Say what?!
As reported by Reuters, the people behind the mask said that taking off face masks to eat or drink leaves one to be exposed to the Covid-19 virus. By wearing this nose-only mask, users can still be protected up to a certain extent.
While that may sound ridiculous at first, it does have some logic behind it. According to John Hopkins University in the United States, cells that give people a sense of smell are a key entry point for Covid-19. Hence, nose coverings such as this are important.
Despite that however, the World Health Organisation (WHO) still recommends people to wear face mask that provide full coverings of the nose, mouth and chin. Furthermore, if you were to only wear this nose-mask out in public here in Malaysia, youād still be compounded for breach of the Covid-19 SOPs.
Furthermore, the researchers created the mask to be worn under your face mask and to be used only while eating or talking.
