With the current hot weather that most of Malaysia is facing, it’s important to take note of your surroundings as the heatwave is likely to cause wild animals to take shelter in the unlikeliest of places.
Well, if you need convincing, then take this Malaysian’s encounter with a python as a prime example of an incident that could happen during this weather.
Going viral on social media, a post shared on the Honda RS-X150/RS150R/Winner X Malaysia Facebook page has garnered over 1,000 reactions and more than 250 comments.
The post, shared by Wan Muhammad Firdaus Latip shared that he was perplexed at the lacklustre performance of his Honda RS-X 150 motorcycle despite recently changing its air filter.
He then decided to stop by a petrol station in Jasin, Melaka to refuel and had the shock of his life when opening the motorcycle’s seat.
There, sitting cosily and all curled up under the seat is a python, seemingly taking refuge from the hot weather.
Despite witnessing the snake there, Wan Muhammad Firdaus decided to let the python be as it was dormant and continued refuelling petrol.
He then pushed his motorcycle to the side of the petrol station and asked the staff there for a pair of tongs and a plastic bag.
Afterwards, Wan Muhammad Firdaus shared that he put the python inside the plastic bag using the tongs and released it into the wild.
He then gave a piece of advice to all who are reading the post, saying,
“So friends, before you go or come back from work, do check under your motorcycle seats or inside your motorcycle baskets as it (snakes) may be loitering inside.”
“This is the hot season so be careful. I’m lucky that it’s a python. If it were other types of snakes, I’d have scrammed from there. Scary.”
In the comments section, many netizens shared that they wouldn’t have acted so calmly if they were in the same situation.
One commenter said that it would be really scary if the python managed to hitchhike all the way to the man’s home.
Meanwhile, another commenter said that he would be checking his bags before riding his motorbike, scared that a snake may have snuck in.
A few commenters said that the man should’ve kept the snake as his pet as it’s cute. There are also those that joked about the incident, asking the man for his plate number as it may turn out lucky.
There are also those that joked about the python being a “rempit”, saying that the python also likes to ride the Honda RS-X.
