A recent incident involving a man, reportedly an ustaz, went viral after CCTV footage showed him assaulting a group of boys, believed to be tahfiz school students under his care, in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
The suspect was seen wearing a t-shirt bearing the name of the tahfiz school while scolding the students and hitting them with his helmet.

Members of the public went to confront the man at the tahfiz school
As we previously reported, the video has sparked outrage online and among the public, with some even visiting the tahfiz school to confront him over his actions.
“Do you feel superior for hitting those kids that way?” one of the men asked.
During the confrontation, the man admitted that his behaviour was unacceptable and said he had since filed a police report.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) confirmed that a report had been lodged and added that an adult male suspect has been detained to assist with investigations.
“Islam does not teach this kind of behaviour”
UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh has since spoken out about the incident, urging for the strictest punishment for the suspect, who he dubbed a “penunggang agama” (religious rider).
Taking to his Facebook page, Dr Akmal criticised the man’s action, saying that it has “given Islam a bad name.”
“Islam does not teach this kind of behaviour. We hope that, with this video as evidence, this foolish ustaz can be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Don’t bring disgrace to the religion,” he wrote.
