With Hari Raya lurking just around the corner, the time has arrived again for the joyous balik kampung ride and filling ourselves up with all the kuih raya we want. ?

This year, it’s all the more exciting since it will be our first proper Raya celebration post-MCO. But before we get to the fun part, we’ve prepared a to-do list to remind you of what you need to do to make your celebration more awesome!

1. Don’t forget to pay your Zakat Fitrah

Zakat Fitrah Lzs

It is compulsory for all Muslims who can afford it to pay Zakat Fitrah (the Alms of Human Nature) for themselves and their dependents (if any) at the end of Ramadhan month. The act of paying Zakat Fitrah signifies our gratitude for being able to complete the holy month of Ramadhan and the money raised is used to assist the underprivileged to celebrate Hari Raya.

Back then, we’d have to search for Zakat Fitrah counters at mosques to pay it in person. Nowadays, you can conveniently perform this duty online via the MAE app! Here’s how:

  1. Launch the MAE app > Pay Bills > Zakat.
  2. Select your Zakat body (depending on which state you live in) and the Zakat type.
  3. Key in all your details (your type of rice, number of dependents, etc) and the app will calculate the total amount you need to pay.
  4. State your niat (intention) and click to pay. That’s it!

Additionally, with a minimum of RM5 spent, you’ll earn TWO (2) chances to play the Raya IstiMAEwa Game to win various prizes! More info on this below.

2. Order your kuih raya and Raya dishes in advance

Event 6

Our Raya wouldn’t be complete without all the delicious cookies and traditional dishes that we’d only get to eat once a year. No time to prepare them yourself? Just order them online! This way, you can help the lokal sellers, too!

If you’re not sure where to find delicious Raya delicacies, we’d recommend checking out the Sama-Sama Lokal platform on the MAE app! ICYMI, you can order from various local merchants which include hawkers, restaurants, groceries, household items and more.

And did you know you can easily pay all your bills using the MAE app? From utilities, telco, internet, and insurance to reloading your mobile credit, it’s all there!

Now that we’re allowed to balik kampung, the long journey will definitely include some traffic congestion due to the high volume of cars on the road. Thus, make sure that you send your car for service (preferably a week before your journey) and check your car tyres and brakes, and change your motor oil if needed.

Can you imagine being stuck in a jam for hours and then having to deal with your car breaking down? Nightmare! ?

5. Get Baju Raya for the whole family
