After this horrifying incident, many passengers who are taking public transportation are worried about their personal safety when walking to parking lots or taking the lift at any of these stations.

With this in mind, RapidKL has decided to tighten their security by taking effective precautions to forbid such incidents from reoccurring.

According to The Star, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, the operator of RapidKL has stated that they are stepping up security at its MRT stations.

What are the security measures you may ask?

From now on, worried RapidKL passengers can ask for a staff member to walk them to their car, especially when they are in quiet parking spots. A good initiative!

“RapidKL passengers can request to be escorted to the parking lots if the area is quiet and if they need any help,” the statement said. Meanwhile, the statement added that those who require such assistance can inform the customer service counters at any MRT, LRT, Monorail, or BRT stations.

Besides that, additional precautions that has been taken by Prasarana include displaying CCTV visuals from within the elevator directly to the staff on duty.

“The CCTV visual display is present on the main screens for quick notifications of any incident,” it said in a statement on Monday (February 18).

Furthermore, Prasarana pointed out that members of the Special Action Force (SAT) have been deployed to several hotspots.

“The SAT team is a special unit set up by the Prasarana Securities Department, they are clad in plainclothes when patrolling,” it said.

Most importantly, Prasarana had advised the members of the public to be constantly alert when they are at public areas, especially when they are taking the quiet routes.
