Just recently, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi revealed that Ramesh Rao has been appointed as the special officer in charge of affairs related to the Indian community, which did not sit well with many Malaysians.
Ramesh Rao has broken the silence yesterday (December 26), and in defense of the appointment, he said that he has a good track record when it comes to helping the people.
According to New Straits Time, Ramesh said that he can show who he has helped as an NGO and the things that he has done. For that, he has two witnesses who can prove his efforts.
“Zahid Hamidi and Najib Razak know what I’ve done during Barisan Nasional’s reign.”
Professional community, here we go!
When it comes to helping the Indian community in Malaysia, Ramesh already has something up his sleeve. He’s planning to follow in the footsteps of the United States of America & Europe when it comes to the fate of the Indian community – by transforming the Indian community into a professional community.
Using both countries as an example, Ramesh said that the Indian communities there are considered professional communities despite being the minority there.
“I want to transform the Indian community in Malayisia into a professional community, and I believe we can do that.”
He added, “If they can do it there, why not in Malaysia, which is such a rich country“.
In short, a professional community refers to a constant learning environment, where you are bound to discover something new when you connect with members of the community.
Ramesh also said that his task force to carry out his mission will not comprise any political parties, as he wants to help the Indian community without any divide-and-rule methodology involved.
“If I take anyone from political parties, they will divide and rule,” he said.
In response to the criticisms of his appointment, including the ones from other politicians, Ramesh simply asked for a chance to carry out his duties and said that in today’s unity government, they are all a team.
Fellow Indian communities in Malaysia, do you think Ramesh Rao’s appointment as the special officer will help in the long run, and open more doors to good changes?
