As the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases rises every day, the burden on our medical team has been growing tremendously. During difficult times like this, it would at least comfort their souls if the medical personnel could have freshly cooked meals.
Malaysia’s Director-General of Health, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, shared a piece of heartwarming news on his Facebook, that Raja Permaisuri Agung had cooked up a feast for the medical personnel on duty at Sungai Buloh Hospital. In Dr Noor Hisham’s post yesterday (21 March), he expressed gratitude towards Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah for preparing lunch for the Covid-19 frontliners.
According to him, the personnel at Sungai Buloh Hospital and the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) at the Ministry of Health were extremely appreciative of Her Majesty’s contribution. They were able to enjoy “Cheminahsayang” branded homecooked “nasi berlauk” amidst busy schedules. Dr Noor Hisham also mentioned that delicious meals like this are the source to lift the spirits among healthcare providers so that they are able to save the country with sufficient energy.
Raja Permaisuri had recorded the experience of preparing food for the healthcare providers in the hospitals on Her Majesty’s official Instagram account (@airtangan_tunkuazizah) and expressed that this is the least that could be done for the government servants who are sacrificing their lives.
As for today (22 March), Raja Permaisuri Agong and Her Majesty’s kitchen crew had prepared another round of feast for the medical staff at Hospital Kuala Lumpur. The menu today includes sayur Jawa, egg curry, ayam goreng kunyit, and crates of fresh apples and oranges.
In regards to the Movement Control Order that is currently being implemented, Her Majesty explained that all staff in the Istana are not allowed to get out of the premise.
“I hope all of you can understand that we are all locked inside Istana Negara. All of us are being checked everyday, and we are not going out of the premise to meet anyone. We wear face masks and gloves when we cook, and we often sanitise our hands. Don’t worry (about the food safety), all of us are paranoid here and we’re not allowed to go out. Outsiders are not allowed to come in as well.”
It is indeed a blessing to have a kind and understanding Queen who makes sure that the Covid-19 medical teams are well-fed and taken care of.
