A user of Xiao Hong Shu recently recounted her experience and mentioned that a transaction for RM39.52 had been recorded in her Touch ‘n Go (TnG) account. She made the decision to research it out of concern that it was a scam.

It turns out that the deduction was made for a penalty.

In her post, she explained:

“I didn’t know about this until I asked my friends. There’s a rule in Malaysia that once you pass a toll using RFID, you’ll have to use RFID again to exit the toll. I also asked my boyfriend about this matter and he told me that while he was queuing for the RFID lane, it turns out that the car in front of him couldn’t pass through the toll.

“He had no choice but to reverse his car and proceed to the next lane which was a Touch n’ Go lane. We also found out that if your RFID has been double charged, you can submit a request on your TnG app for a refund.

“Unfortunately, for our case we are unable to request for a refund as it has been considered a penalty.”

She urged internet users to exercise caution in order to avoid being penalised in her final message.

This is a general PSA to the public and if you have any issues with your RFID or TnG, please refer to their customer representatives.
