Probationary drivers in Malaysia are required to display the probationary license plate on their windshield. The white, capital P in the square and red background will “notify” other drivers that you’re still a newbie on the road.
Two P stickers (front and back) are enough; and feel free to decorate your windshield with other stickers as long as you can see the road. In a viral clip shared by @jxelsprtn on TikTok recently, a probationary driver decided to display four P stickers on her car, with each sticker on every side – front, back, left, and right. So semangat! We guess she really wanted other drivers on the road to know that she’s a newbie.
The P stickers were seen on the windshield, rear window, passenger’s window, and the driver’s window. In other words, road users from ALL sides should be able to tell that there’s a probationary driver on the road.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the woman who recorded the clip said that she noticed the car on a road in Kuching, Sarawak. While no one knew for sure the motive behind the need to display 4 P stickers, the viral clip got the attention of the car owner and she revealed why she decided to display the P stickers on all sides.
“I just want other drivers to stay away from my car,” she joked.
We have to say that we understand the fear of being on the road for the 1st time. We were all there once and the fear of getting rammed by another car, or making the mistake of ramming other cars as a probationary driver was truly terrifying.
“JPJ officer will be arrested by you in the future”
Netizens, on the other hand, found it hilarious for the driver to have P stickers on all sides. Some also said the driver will get mad respect from JPJ.
“One fine day, the driver could be the one stopping a JPJ officer in a roadblock.”
“She followed the rules too much.”
“Put one on the roof of your car too so that the lorry drivers can see.”
“When JPJ sees her, they keep away their cones at the roadblock.”
“JPJ sees this and resigns.”
“If you want to be part of JPJ, this is what you should do.”
