The 25-year-old was living in Singapore with her mother- and father-in-laws and was on a long-term visiting permit. The accident happened on Jurong West Avenue 1.

What made things even more tragic was that the victim was also six months pregnant. Soon after she passed away, doctors worked quickly to rescue the baby via an emergency caesarean section.

Thankfully, the doctors managed to save the premature baby girl, who is now in stable condition.

According to eyewitness reports, the young woman was seen crossing the road with her mother-in-law. At the same time, a lorry drove out from a parking lot and couldn’t press the brakes in time after spotting the two crossing the road.

“The woman who was hit was lying on the legs of the other woman, and the right side of her body was full of blood,” one eyewitness said.

The lorry driver has since been taken into police custody for causing death due to negligent driving.
