Politician Arrested For Allegedly Growing Marijuana At Home, Producing & Selling Drugs

A businessman was arrested today (22 January) at Fraser Business Park, Pudu after he was suspected to be distributing drugs that he cultivated himself in his house. The businessman was also a former candidate during the 14th General Election (GE-14).

He had contested for the post of Youth Deputy Chief of a political party.  Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said, the police force initially arrested the suspect who was riding a motorcycle in a suspicious manner around 1.45pm, last Wednesday (20 January).

From PDRM’s search, here’s what they managed to confiscate from the suspect’s house:

  • 40 bottles containing 400 millilitres (ml) of liquid drugs
  • RM250 in cash
  • 1,500 grams of cannabis
  • Cannabis liquid (3,000 ml)
  • Chemical liquid
  • Cannabis
  • Cannabis plant watering area
  • A BMW car suspected to belong to the suspect.

They also raided the suspect’s house at Ampang, Selangor around 1am yesterday (21 January) where they found seven cannabis plants and two cannabis seedlings.

All the confiscated products at the suspect’s house were estimated at an estimated worth of RM60,760 involving cannabis plants worth RM4,500, cannabis worth RM3,000, and drug liquids worth RM53,100, reported Astro Awani. After interrogating the suspect, the suspect admitted to being involved in the activity since October last year.

“PDRM also found that the suspect has produced his own drugs consisting of a mixture of cannabis and ketamine before selling outside at a price of RM300 a bottle.”

The suspect was remanded for seven days starting yesterday until January 27 to assist further police investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act and Section 6B of the same act.
