In a report by Astro Awani, Kelantan police recently revealed a new tactic being adopted by drug dealers in the state. These dealers reportedly offer “packages” where customers can receive a free firearm along with any drug purchase.

Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Hassanuddin Hassan stated that this package is believed to be promoted by drug distributors from neighbouring countries. He was quoted by the daily as saying,

“The firearms supplied by these drug dealers are for private use. This case is currently being investigated under Section 38B of the Dangerous Drugs Act and the Firearms Act.”

This new tactic was discovered after local police raided a home in Kok Lanas on Monday (25th February) at 12.10am. Four men aged between 24 and 53 were arrested while 290 bottles containing a total of 1.6kg of heroin and 2.kg of methamphetamines amounting to RM71,980 were also seized.

Datuk Hassanuddin added that further investigations on one of the suspects brought them to another home in the same housing area where they found more bags of heroin, methamphetamine, and a revolver in a wooden wardrobe.

It was later revealed that suspects confessed they had received their drugs from a supplier in Thailand. All suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and have since been remanded for 7 days as of Monday (25th February).

The case is now being investigated under section 39B and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1960.

Well, we’re glad the authorities are on this case! Let’s hope this is investigated thoroughly and that the suspects receive appropriate punishment if they’re found guilty.
