For some of us, our teenage years are when we start going to parties and getting to know different people. However, these parties could also be dangerous because teenagers could be easily influenced to take part in questionable habits such as drug consumption.

Last Thursday (October 13, 2022), 22 teenagers, including minors, were arrested for hosting and attending a party in a rented bungalow.

According to BERNAMA, police arrested 14 local men and 8 local women aged 16 to 21 years old when they raided the “wild party” that took place in the bungalow in Batu Feringghi at around 1.40am.

Sharing the bungalow’s rental

Penang North East District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong said that investigations found that the party was hosted by a 19-year-old man who paid RM1,000 for one night in the bungalow.

“Every person who attended the party was then invited through a WhatsApp group and they had to pay between RM80 and RM100 to join the party.”

“We also found that the eight women who went to the party were not charged any fees because their share were covered by the male participants,” he said in a press conference.

Drugs were found

Additionally, police confiscated two packets of drugs worth almost RM200 in the raid.

According to Soffian, the police managed to seize two packets of ketamine weighing 0.9 grams and three ecstasy pills with an estimated weight of 1.6 grams.

All of the teenagers involved were taken to the Northeast District Police Headquarters (IPDTL) for further investigation and counseling sessions.

“The results of the urine screening of the 22 individuals also found that six men were found to be positive for methamphetamine. All of them were remanded for six days until tomorrow,” he added.

Would the teenagers still have been arrested if there were no drugs present?
