The Lunar New Year is just around the corner and many establishments usually take this opportunity to send out greetings in conjunction with the festive season.
Our very own beloved Prime Minister Najib Razak has also taken advantage of this time to send out his annual message for Chinese New Year 2018. This year, he focuses on the unity and solidarity that he says can be seen in all Malaysians especially during festive periods.
He emphasised that the Chinese New Year celebrations is one which highlights the importance of coming together as one. “We live harmoniously as one regardless of race and creed. It has become a way of life and this bond between us is what I believe to be the true spirit of 1Malaysia. This celebration is a perfect reminder of the many cultures and faiths that make us who we are as Malaysians.”
In his speech, he also professed his gratitude to the Malaysian Chinese community for their contributions to the country. He said that the Malaysian Chinese had an important role in building the nation as well.
“Indeed Malaysia is home to many, and all have played (an) important role in building this great nation especially our Chinese brothers and sisters as fellow sons and daughters of Malaysia. Their tremendous contribution is evident in every part of the country be it culturally or economically.”
“To this end, my heartfelt gratitude goes to the nation-building role played by all Malaysian Chinese since Independence.”
That’s not all; in his speech, PM Najib mentions his commitment to Malaysians and said that not a single one will be left behind as the country progresses.
“I am committed to ensure that no Malaysians will be left behind, that the future of our children will be better than ours and that we will grow stronger and together as one. I hope that this Year of the Dog will bring prosperity and good health to you and your families and may we continue to be proud and committed to Negaraku, a country that we love.”
WOB wishes everyone a prosperous Chinese New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai!
