For women who often take the KTM to commute around, you’d assume that you’d be safe in the ladies’ coach which is supposed to be free from men.
However, as we all know and as reminded many times by KTMB themselves, there have been many instances where male passengers have taken advantage of the ladies’ coach.
Recently, KTMB took to their Facebook page once again to share a video of a couple of men sitting inside the ladies’ coach without any feelings of guilt.
In the video, KTMB tells such male passengers to have common sense when taking public transport.
“(Admin) doesn’t request for more, (but) we request that male passengers that use the KTM Komuter to sit in the other coaches. P.S. The ladies’ coach is only available on KTM Komuters within the Klang Valley only.”
The video showed a POV of what a female passenger would often notice when they enter the ladies-only coach.
Women don’t even sit there?
The video post by KTMB caught the attention of many Malaysians and most took the chance to express their support with KTMB’s statement. The video currently sits on over 97,000 views and 1,400 likes.
However, some users told KTMB to urge women to sit in the coach first as they stated that the ladies coach is often empty as even women don’t sit in it.
“I always noticed that the ladies coach always has empty seats because women like to sit in the normal coach.”
“The ladies coach is available but why do they still sit in the normal coach. Why don’t we make coaches for both men and women,” said a netizen.
Suggestions to curb the issue
Meanwhile, some netizens also suggested a couple of alternative solutions on how to solve the issue.
“Give out orders, followed up by action. No need to deal with the headache of sending reminders,” said a netizen.
Another commented, “Please have auxiliary police placed in the ladies’ coach. Sometimes those men pretend not to see, or are deaf.”
