The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) yesterday (23 January) launched the latest official jersey for the national football team squads, the Harimau Malaya, which incorporated a new design for both home and away matches.

Taking to its official Facebook page, FAM shared several posts hyping up the new jerseys, which fans can buy at official retailers nationwide at RM319 each.

Using the traditional yellow colour for home jerseys and black for away jerseys, the new Harimau Malaya kit received lacklustre support from Malaysians though, with many taking to the comments section to share their opinion.

One commenter said that the new Harimau Malaya jerseys are okay and are better than not having any. He also sarcastically said that what’s important is that the FAM meetings to discuss the new jerseys have free food for the attendees.

Meanwhile, another commenter was unimpressed by the RM319 retail price and wished FAM luck in selling the new kit.

Another commenter also commented on the price, saying that he would buy it at just RM10, the ‘pasar malam’ price for counterfeit jerseys.

Besides that, one Malaysian was disappointed by the new design, saying that while other countries’ national team has modern jerseys, Harimau Malaya’s is a step backwards.

Speaking of the design, one commenter said that the new jerseys are too plain and uninspired, suggesting that putting another shade of yellow at the collar and sleeve would make it better.

Meanwhile, one Malaysian said that the price was too high and was disappointed by the lack of a Malaysian flag on the jerseys.
