Does being developed mean more abolishment of old buildings to make way for new ones? Rumour has it that PKNS Mall in Shah Alam, which has been standing still for 47 years long would be abolished to make way for a new condominium.
The rumour recently circulated on X and it was also said that SACC Mall, which is just behind PKNS is getting “axed” too for the development. The tweet has since been removed, and the management of PKNS Mall has debunked the rumours in an official statement via an X post @saccmall, and assured the public, especially residents in Shah Alam that NO ABOLISHMENT will take place.
“It’s fake news, and we have no abolishment plans”
In the statement by Suhaili Bin Mat Deli, the manager of the Corporate Communications Department insisted that PKNS has no plans to abolish the building, despite being there for nearly 5 decades.
“The 47-year-old PKNS complex is one of the landmarks in Shah Alam and plays an important role in providing business services and facilities to the surrounding residents.”
As for the residents in Shah Alam, or if you have recently passed by the area, you may have noticed some road closures around the area. It’s due to the ongoing construction for the LRT3 line and not only that, but another RM2 million project is also ongoing.
“This will involve several plots in the city center of Section 14, including SACC Mall and the SACC Convention Center. PKNS Complex has never been part of the project.”
Suhahili added that the area will be upgraded to provide better and more comfortable facilities for a better experience to the visitors and the local community.
The rejuvenation project is also in line with PKNS efforts in helping to make Shah Alam a zero-carbon city with upgraded buildings that will use a centralized chill water system in addition to green energy systems. Throughout the project, PKNS Complex will remain operational.
“We will lodge a police report for the matter, as well as to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).”
