Yet another reminder to all humanity to be more responsible towards nature. We need to stop polluting the Earth. Be it plastic straws or cigarette butts, we need to be more mindful of how we handle our waste.
Karen Mason, a volunteer for the National Audubon Society, managed to photograph a mother bird at a beach in Florida while she was feeding the baby chick a cigarette butt.
Yes, you read that right.
Accompanying the picture, as a reminder for everyone, Karen wrote on her post,
“If you smoke, please don’t leave your butts behind.”
She then shared another picture. This time, the baby chick was seen so happy with the cigarette butt in its mouth. Karen wrote,
“This skimmer chick was offered a cigarette butt by its parent. It’s time we cleaned up our beaches and stopped treating them like a giant ashtray.”
Just a few days ago, a turtle was found dead with plastic bags coming out of its rectum. Environmentalists believed that it was pooping them out. THE POOR THING!
Another recent horrifying case includes a stingray found dead with its stomach filled with a book, camera, bottle and a pack of cigarettes.
Our hearts! </3
Although this baby chick being fed a cigarette incident happened in Florida, we can still learn a thing or two from it. Just look at all these cases happening everywhere in the WORLD!
Being a country surrounded by beaches, we should also be mindful of where we throw our rubbish. Often, animals do not know how to differentiate between rubbish and food. It is time we put the war against pollution into overdrive before it is too late. Spread the word!
