A popular eatery in Penang has been praised by netizens after an elderly man visited the restaurant for his sahur (pre-dawn meal).
In a Facebook post, the admin of Nasi Kandar Sulaiman (NKS) recalled a moment when the customer came in and ordered just rice and an egg.

Heartwarming gesture at Nasi Kandar Sulaiman
The eatery shared that when their staff saw the elderly customer’s simple order of rice and an egg, they kindly offered to add more dishes to his meal.
However, the man politely declined, and the eatery explained that his bill would be covered using donations from members of the public, as the eatery is known for collecting contributions from people who donate to help treat the less fortunate.
The post reads:
“We told him it was okay and that he could take any side dish he liked, and we would treat him.
“We also explained that we werenât paying for it ourselves, but would instead make use of donations we received from kind-hearted people.”
“His face lit up with happiness right away”
Upon hearing that, the elderly man agreed to add a serving of squid, and a smile immediately spread across his face.
“His face lit up with happiness right away. We asked if he wanted anything else, and he said the added squid was more than enough, smiling the whole time.”
The eatery also shared that the man is a regular who usually orders just rice and egg.
“But today at NKS, he got to enjoy squid. That small extra made him extremely happy, like he had found a treasure. People like him rarely get to eat squid or slightly pricier dishes. He was very grateful. We hope this brings great blessings to the donors.”
