Penang has always been one of our favourite local destinations because of their food, the beaches and of course the murals!

So this company called Blu has scoured Instagram to find out which cities in the world have the most snapped street art.

They explained in the feature that by adding up all the tagged posts under 3-5 main hashtags in one city, they claim to have found the best destinations for street art enthusiasts.

#1 is most definitely London in the United Kingdom, the home base of Banksy. From graffiti-filled tunnels to memorials for David Bowie etc., prime areas for street art include Soho, Camden, Croydon and Shoreditch. There were 395,764 posts on London street art.

Coming in 2nd place is Paris, France with 311,558 posts! It almost seems ironic because there’re tons of art dating back centuries in Paris and then there’s modern art all over the city. I love it! The huge murals in the 13th arrondissement (neighbourhood) are known for their diversity in the styles and stories they tell.

In 3rd place, we go over to the Oceania continent to Melbourne, Australia with 264,332 posts. Being the vibrant city that it is, it is no doubt that a huge part of Melbourne is covered with street art. Every time our friends go to Melbourne we see them posting thousands of pictures in front of the street art!

In 7th place, it is our very own Penang! So proud! While street art is still a relatively new thing in our cities, Penang has managed to get 7th place, which is not bad at all! There were 65,421 posts on Penang street art.

We beat places like Toronto, Bristol, New York and Miami! That’s definitely something to be very proud of!

It seems that our art scene is growing by the day, which is a good thing as it kind of signifies that people are now more open to encouraging art as compared to back then!
