A recent viral video shows a driver pulling over after spotting a parked police vehicle and confronting the officers before scolding them.
Johor Bahru South District Police Chief ACP Raub Selamat confirmed the incident in a statement, saying that the driver had confronted and scolded a police officer from the MPV unit who was on duty along Jalan Austin Heights 7/4, in front of the Sports Hub in Johor Bahru.

No police report has been filed so far
Raub added that no police report has been filed regarding the incident so far. However, an internal review revealed that it took place on 15 June 2025 at around 4:00 AM, when two officers from the Crime Prevention Patrol Unit (RCJ) of the Taman Setia Indah Police Station were on duty, patrolling in a Proton Waja belonging to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
During the patrol, the police vehicle encountered technical problems with the wiring system connected to the front and rear signal lights, as well as the beacon light. This caused all the lights to malfunction, rendering the vehicle immobile.
The officers then pulled over at a suitable location while waiting for assistance from the maintenance department.

The man questioned the officers’ presence in the area
While waiting for assistance, a local man in a private vehicle stopped and questioned their presence at the scene and caused a disturbance. Despite the officers explaining the situation and the vehicle’s condition, the man continued acting aggressively before eventually leaving the area.
“Police are treating the video of the incident seriously, as it could lead to negative public perception of the officers involved. The actual circumstances have since been clarified, and follow-up measures have been taken to ensure similar incidents do not recur,” Raub said.
He also urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information on social media.
