As with all festivities, firecrackers are a hot item, and many love to play with them, especially at night.
PDRM has said that members of the public are advised not to play with fireworks after midnight, and action may be taken against those who go against this rule.
“The public are also reminded not to play fireworks past midnight, which may cause disturbance or danger to the public.”
PDRM secretary DCP Alzafny Ahmad says in a statement that failure to comply may result in prosecution under Section 13 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 (Act 336) or Section 7 of the Explosives Substance Act 1957, with penalties of up to seven years imprisonment or a fine of RM10,000, or both, reported BERNAMA.
Other than that, they also advised the public members to play with fireworks in open areas so that peace would not be disturbed and the residents would not be distressed.
When setting off fireworks, it is also essential to be responsible and to have safety precautions in place.
In the same statement, it is said that the sale of firecrackers to members of the public is only during festival periods, and only 45 types of firecrackers have been authorised for sale.
We sure hope that everyone will abide by this rule.
