The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has revealed that an investigation paper has been opened in relation to the case of missing political party posters and banners in Sungai Siput, Perak. The incident took place yesterday (4 November 2022), though the police didn’t reveal which political party the missing posters and banners belong to.
As reported by Bernama, Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing acts of treason. However, no arrests have been made in connection to the case as of yet.
The contest for the Sungai Siput Parliamentary seat in GE15 is one to look out for as today seven candidates have been nominated for the seat, the most in the constituency’s history. Among the nominees include incumbent S. Kesavan (Pakatan Harapan), MIC President Tan Sri S A Vigneswaran (Barisan Nasional), Datuk Seri G Irudianathan (Perikatan Nasional), Ahmad Fauzi Mohd Jaafar (Pejuang) R Indrani (independent), Baharudin Kamarudin (independent) and N Rajah (independent).
Hazani, who is also the PDRM operations director for the 15th general election (GE15) also revealed that 15 permits have been issued for ceramahs nationwide by various political parties. These include 8 in Negeri Sembilan, 3 in Terengganu, 2 in Perlis and one each in Kelantan in Selangor.
