The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has reminded Malaysians to not spread any video or information without first verifying them first amidst the 15th General Election (GE15). This is after a video of a man allegedly sabotaging the Pakatan Harapan (PH) GE15 campaign by removing the coalition’s flags in Kuala Lumpur has gone viral on social media which turned out to be an action made by the instruction issued by the coalition and the police.
In fact, the man in the video himself is a PH monitoring agent for GE15. As reported by Bernama, Brickfields district police chief ACP Amihizam Abdul Shukor confirmed that the actions taken by the man to remove the flags were based on the instructions by the Lembah Pantai election campaign enforcement team chief and PDRM representatives.
Amihizam further clarified,
“The instructions were issued after a discussion with the Lembah Pantai parliamentary candidate’s representative, as the flag had covered the fence at the front of the National Museum.”
“The police would like to remind the public not to viral any video or information without verifying it beforehand as such irresponsible action can affect public order,”
Besides that, the Brickfields district police chief also warned Malaysians not to carry out any actions that are against the law throughout the campaign period for GE15. Polling day for GE15 will be held on 19 November 2022, with the campaigning period set to end at 11.59pm on 18 November 2022.
