The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is currently hunting for the owner of the ‘Lyan Liu’ Facebook account, after the user had posted insulting comments about the Malay community and called for mosques to be bombed during Friday prayers.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, a 68-year-old trader filed a police report at the Sungai Udang Police Station in Melaka, after stumbling upon the comments that left him unsatisfied, as they included elements of religion that can disrupt the multiracial harmony in Malaysia.

“This involves a religious issue, I am indeed not satisfied and came to the police station to file a report,” he said.

Police stations in other states have received reports, too

Meanwhile, the Melaka Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, confirmed that his department has received the police report and that this case is also being investigated by police officers in Johor as a report was initially made at the Tampoi Police Station.

“Other states have received reports for the same case, so this case will be referred to the first location where the police received a complaint,” he explained.

Prior to this, comments by the Facebook account had gone viral for insulting the Malay community and Islam. One of the comments even suggested bombing mosques during Friday prayers.
