You might think differently, but theft happens everywhere, even at places you deem the safest or the most impossible for misconduct to happen.
Just recently, Malaysian, Azfar shared CCTV footage of a theft which took place at a mosque in Shah Alam. Some of us may think that no one possesses the guts to steal in a place to worship and seek forgiveness from the Almighty, but the man in the footage has proven that desperate times truly call for desperate measures.
In the first CCTV footage, the suspect is seen lingering around the female praying area in the mosque, presumably to make sure that “the coast is clear” for him to carry out his “mission.”
Not long after, he found himself in a perfect disguise by donning a telekung (female prayer garment) to enter the female prayer hall, where a group of women is seen performing their Subuh prayers.

In the second footage, after successfully sneaking into the female prayer hall, it didn’t take him long to swiftly steal a bag away from one of the women when nobody noticed before escaping the mosque.
Disaat hamba Allah lain sujud di waktu subuh, ada yang ambil kesempatan untuk mengambil hak orang lain.

In his tweet, Azfar revealed that the woman who got her iPhone stolen is his mother. The incident happened at a mosque in Section 18, Shah Alam at dawn time on December 20, and Azfar promised a reward to those who manage to retrieve his mother’s phone.
“You’re not the only one”
Shockingly, another netizen responded to Azfar’s tweet and said that a similar incident happened to her the night before, and she suspected that the perpetrator might be the same man.
Ya Allah my blood boils so much.

Fortunately, in a tweet this morning (December 23), Azfar revealed that the suspect has been apprehended by the police last night (December 22), thanks to the cooperation and the help of the mosque, as well as the people around the area.
“A police report has been lodged, so I’ll let the police handle this matter. To those who have helped, thank you.”
According to a police statement released by PDRM in Shah Alam this morning, the suspect was apprehended at 12:05am in front of the Mydin Mart at Section 18, Shah Alam, which is not far from the mosque.
The police have confiscated 1 black iPhone X and a Samsung Flip 3 from the man.
Azfar reminded the people, especially fellow women to be alert and careful while performing their prayers in the mosque, regardless of where they are.
We’re glad that the suspect has been apprehended and hopefully, the mosque in Shah Alam, and all worship houses will up their security game to prevent history from repeating itself.
