From 2019 to May 2021, these suicide cases involved a total of 281 men and 1,427 women. Most of the victims involved are aged 15 to 18 which totals 872 people, while victims aged 19 to 40 total 668 people.

“Based on the trend of suicide incidents, all responsible parties, especially the society, should play an important role in curbing these symptoms,” the statement said.

“Individuals who experience problems in finance, health, emotional stress, depression, family issues and so on should be given help and support from family and close friends.”

“The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) calls on individuals who are experiencing problems and stress as stated above to get help and support from family members, close friends and also from parties that provide counselling services.”
