Kuantan, you’re making name globally now, and to those from Kuantan and Pahang, this might excite you.
The Pahang state government is giving a long-distance call to Japan to contact the writers behind the popular anime, Jujutsu Kaisen. In case you missed it, the 42nd episode of the anime recently went viral for mentioning Kuantan, Pahang.
1 of the characters, Nanami expressed his desire to visit a beach in Kuantan before his death.
“Kuantan would be nice”, Nanami said in the episode and immediately gained the attention of many Malaysians, including those who don’t watch the anime.
The effort to contact the writers of Jujutsu Kaizen, according to state exco Leong Man Yu, is an effort to further promote the beach in Kuantan following the viral news about the episode that mentioned Kuantan. Guess what? Fans of the anime, you also had a part to play in the state exco’s decision, according to BFM News and Sinar Harian.
“Fans of the episode had marked this in the Google Maps as a memorial to Kento Nanami,” Leong explained.
Apart from that, Leong also highlighted that some fans of the anime have made a proposal about Nanami – build a memorial on the beach to commemorate Nanami!
The state government will contact the creator of the anime to get approval on the matter.
“We’re hoping to get an endorsement from the creator of Jujutsu Kaizen so that the beach in Kuantan can become a tourist attraction for anime fans around the world.”
