Although it has only been a few days since his first official working day as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Adam Adli has seen his fair share of the spotlight.
From being criticised for appearing to have clocked in late on his first day, to comments he made about corruption within the sports scene.
Now another issue appears to have gone viral involving him once again. On his first day, Adam was spotted donning a smart casual attire with long pants and a shirt with sleeves folded.
Meanwhile, he was surrounded by his officers, who were wearing suits and ties.
Where’s your coat and tie?
In a couple of comments by Facebook users, they criticised him for breaking past tradition and for not wearing the usual suit and tie as worn by his predecessors.
“Please wear more appropriate items of clothing as a sign of respect to your team, the pillars of your success later. I think you’re a little bit underdressed.”
More important things to focus on
On the other hand, Twitter users were seeing the bigger picture and said that what he wears is irrelevant as long as he does his job properly.
“If only ministers spent less time dressing up, probably they’d do more work. Also take a look at Singapore’s ministers. They hardly dress up. But seem to be doing their work well.”
One user tied Adam’s asset declaration with his choice of outfit and said that perhaps it’s because he has not had an easy life.
Meanwhile, a couple of users pointed out that whatever it is, it’s better to see him permanently leave the orange jumpsuit in his past forever, alluding to the fact that Adam had been arrested in the past.
What do you think of Adam’s outfit choice? Is it really even a big deal?
