When it floods in Malaysia, it’s usually because of the monsoon season, when rainwater goes stagnant thanks to clogged drains.
However, this time, it appears that various places in Malaysia are flooded due to insanely high tides.
马来西亚星洲日报 Malaysia Sin Chew Daily took to their Facebook page to showcase how the island of Pulau Ketam, which is located off the coast of Port Klang, had become semi-submerged due to high tides today (September 20).
They wrote, “The coast of Selangor has reached the highest water level from this wave of high tides this morning, and some roads in Port Klang and even the North Coast area have been submerged in seawater.”
“Pulau Ketam is like a floating village, and not only are the roads on the island submerged, but seawater has also poured into many homes on Pulau Ketam.”
The Klang 巴生 Facebook page added to this, stating that the flooding caused by seawater has led to various other problems.
“The abnormal weather has caused disaster in various states. Klang had high tides this morning and seawater poured onto the main roads of Port Klang, not only causing serious traffic jams but also some homes in Pulau Ketam were flooded, and even snakes were washed onto the wooden bridge on the island,” they explained.
We genuinely hope that everyone stays safe during these trying times.
