We definitely need more examples like these being set..

With the talks of a double standard in SOP implementation, suffice to say, Malaysians were surprised to see Terengganu state executive councilor (agriculture, agro-based industry, and rural development) Dr. Azman Ibrahim owning up to his mistakes and surrendering to PDRM.

In a Facebook statement today (14 May), the counselor said that he had contacted OCPD Setiu to give his statement regarding how he violated MCO Raya SOPs and received a guest on the first day of Raya. He requested that the case be processed in accordance with current MCO SOPs with no exceptions. Dr. Azman also apologized to everyone who was involved in this.

In a subsequent Facebook post, he gave his statement to ASP Syed Mohammad, Criminal Investigation Division of Besut IPD, and received a letter of Offer to Compound Offenses.

“YB will also be punished in the exact same way the rakyat are punished with the same compound rate. No one is above the law.”

Malaysians in the comments section praised the YB for not using his position to escape the law as many others in his position have been doing. They also added that other YB’s should take Dr. Azman Ibrahim as an example to admit their mistakes and receive just punishments.

Will there ever be a stop to double-standard in punishments? Let us know in the comments section!
