How many of us are guilty of using the University Malaya as a shortcut to get to PJ?
Well, it seems like we can no longer do it as UM has released a statement that they will be closing all of their entrances and exits to the public!
The university situated between both KL and Petaling Jaya has announced the closure on 7th June on their Facebook page. The statement reads,
“As a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our campus community in light of the Covid-19 outbreak, UM would like to announce that all UM entrances and exits will be restricted with limited access to UM staff/UM students/University Malaya Medical Centre and University Malaya Specialist Centre staff only, until further notice.”
“The campus will not be accessible to the public as a through-road. Visitors entering the campus for official matters, e-hailing and food delivery services are required to register with the security officers at the campus entrance.”
“The safety of our campus community is our priority.”
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we thank you for your cooperation.”
There we have it, better plan the roads you’ll be taking ahead of time as the UM shortcut is not available. Also, don’t forget to always wear a mask, practise social distancing and use hand sanitiser to keep your hygiene levels up.
