Despite the ending of John Wick Chapter 4, the team behind the action-packed movie series has confirmed that John Wick 5 is in the works! How the story will continue has yet to be imagined but let’s just say, there’s more to come.
With the ideas for John Wick 5 yet to be written, another John Wick production is coming, and this will be great news to fans of Anime. Yes, John Wick Anime is in the works too! Director of all John Wick movies, Chad Stahelski opened up about the anime during the podcast on The Discourse.
At the time of writing, a talent from Japan is involved with the project and according to Stahelski, we’ll get a FULL TV show of John Wick the anime!
The creativity and brain juice of the team just keep on flowing since 2014 when the 1st John Wick movie came out!
“I love Japanese anime so much!”
At the moment, not many information about the anime is available. Not the plot details, not the release date or even the production date. However, Stahelski couldn’t contain his excitement about the project and admitted that he has always been a huge fan of Japanese anime.
“We’re really looking forward to that. We’re all excited, and I’m a huge fan of Japanese anime,” Stahelski expressed.
The anime format will also allow the filmmakers to explore elements that couldn’t be done in live-action movies previously, with endless possibilities for the fight sequences and creativity.
In case you’re not aware, the John Wick movie series has spawned a prequel series – The Continental, which took place in the 70s and focuses on young Winston and young Charon. In summer 2024, another John Wick spinoff, titled Ballerina is scheduled for a release, and the story will take place between the events of John Wick 3 and 4.
So, does that mean the John Wick universe is expanding, with the anime being in the same universe?
According to Stahelski, John Wick anime is not related to The Continental or the movies. Well, at least you don’t need to catch up with all John Wick movies and TV series to watch the anime (although we highly suggest that you do!)
The information about the anime is scarce and we’ll scout more details for you as soon as we can! John Wick and anime fans, can you imagine the action-thriller being turned into an anime with high-octane action sequences?
