The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) has released Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Aidiladha celebrations set to be in motion this Hari Raya Aidiladha.
Among the guidelines set, ‘takbir raya’ will however be allowed in mosques and suraus in areas that are currently in Phase Two of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Along with the announcement that ‘takbir raya’ is allowed, other provisions also include prayers and sermons, animal sacrificial rites, which are subjected to SOPs and permission by state religious authorities.
Activities prohibited throughout the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebrations include house-to-house ‘takbir raya’, feasts after Aidiladha prayers, visiting (programmes and graves), open houses and ceremonies.
Currently, eight states are in Phase Two of the MCO which are Perlis, Perak, Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak.
Guidelines for Hari Raya Aidiladha celebrations are currently in circular through social media.
Let’s keep safe this holiday. We are almost there, let’s not become a reason for another lockdown to take place as a result of not staying safe during the pandemic.
