Just like how there are many songs out there that sound the same, there will always be designs that come out looking similar.

But where does one draw the line between looking similar and blatant plagiarism?

A local brand is currently under fire as Malaysians are accusing them of plagiarising their latest Flower Edition design from another local brand, Machino. People have since taken to their Instagram about their Diana sandals Flower Edition to call out the brand.

For their post, they wrote, “Let elegance blossom with every step you take.”

Before we get to the people’s comments, here is a comparison of the local brand’s design and Machino’s design:

The local brand’s Diana sandals Flower Edition was launched yesterday, on January 11, 2024 (Thursday).

Based on our research, it appears that Machino’s crowd favourite, the Hana collection, was launched sometime in late 2021.

WORLD OF BUZZ has since reached out to both brands for statements but have yet to hear back from the local brand in question.

Machino, unfortunately, cannot comment at the moment due to legal reasons but shared that they are currently handling the issue internally.

What do you think? Plagiarism or nah? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
