Hold on to your horses, everyone, for there’s a possibility that every single person on the planet may become a billionaire in the future.

The USA’s National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will be launching a mission to explore an asteroid, named Psyche, that is said to be worth more than the global economy.

According to NASA, the Psyche mission, which will be launched on October 1 (Tuesday), is a journey to a unique metal-rich asteroid orbiting the Sun, between Mars and Jupiter.

“What makes the asteroid, Psyche, unique is that it appears to be the exposed nickel-iron core of an early planet, one of the building blocks of our solar system,” they explained.

So, you might be wondering, where does the money come into play?

Well, based on a report by Forbes, the 226-kilometer-wide asteroid which could contain a core of iron, nickel and gold could be worth $10,000 quadrillion (that’s $10,000,000,000,000,000,000 or RM42,340,000,000,000,000,000).

Preparing for their launch in October, the mission is currently in their 4th phase.

“A space mission typically has 6 phases, A to F. The Psyche mission is currently in ‘Phase D’. This this phase, the mission is focused on instrument and spacecraft assembly, testing and launch,” NASA added.

Upon launching, they will be estimated to arrive at the asteroid in 2029, so everyone needs to patient as we’ll all have to wait years before we find out if we’re all going to be billionaires.
