Recently, we were shocked by the sudden news that former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was admitted into the National Heart Institute (IJN) following some health complications.
Following the shocking news, a ‘screenshot’ of a purported post by former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had been circulating on social media.
The post showcases Najib bidding “farewell” to Mahathir. However it has now been revealed to be fake.
The post was initially posted by Mahathir’s press secretary, Adam Mukhriz Mohd Muhayeedin which has now been deleted but not before it was reshared by Kangar MP Noor Amin Ahmad.
Najib’s plan to sue
Following the revelation that the screenshot is fake, Najib took to Facebook to announce that he is planning to sue Amin Ahmad for his claim.
“After reading the comments in my post and the post of the Kangar PH MP regarding the defamatory ‘Selamat jalan?’ post, I have instructed my lawyer to start a defamation suit proceeding against the PH MP and the aide of Mahathir if they do not delete the post and apologise.”
“It’s hard to believe that when Mahathir is sick, these people still want to start slandering me just in the name of politics?”

“People accused me and I have denied it. They asked me to show my FB activity to prove that I didn’t post it and I showed it. But they still don’t want to apologise,” he added.
He also explained that he will sue both of them so that his lawyer could show them the original activity log in court to for their satisfaction. “Any compensation received will be given to the people.”

Kangar MP Noor Amin Ahmad has since apologised to Najib and taken down the post. “Yesterday Najib left a comment on my FB post showing his FB activity log which proved that he didn’t post it.”
