The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has arrested a 45-year-old Malaysian who was seen scattering nails on the road in a viral video posted on social media recently. The suspect was ‘nailed’ by the police around Changkat Larang in Lahat at about 3am yesterday (1 April 2023).
According to BERNAMA, Batu Gajah District Police chief ACP Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said that the man, who was driving a Nissan Almera in the video was remanded for four days starting yesterday. The motive for his scattering of the nails on the road is still being investigated.
Besides that, the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine when he was arrested and had a previous drug-related criminal record. The man was arrested within 24 hours of the police announcing that there were investigating the viral video.
The incident was believed to have happened at the traffic lights of Jalan Ipoh-Lumut/Pusing near Batu Gajah. Following the video, the police also received a police report from a road user that had his car tyre punctured after passing the road.
