In conjunction with the country’s borders reopening on 1 April 2022, protocols are in preparation for travellers coming to Malaysia to make it a safe destination as well as to avoid congestion at the international gateways.
According to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, travellers will be required to download the MySejahtera application, upload real-time Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results prior to departure and fill in pre-release forms.
He said that a traveller card will be added to the MySejahtera application if conditions are met and when travellers are allowed to board the plane, according to BERNAMA. He also added that there will be many pre-release forms to be filled in.
Besides, on arrival in Malaysia, travellers need to do the Antigen Rapid Test Kit (RTK-Ag) within 24 hours at their own costs, according to the Health Minister.
“Beginning 1 April, Malaysia will open its borders to the world and this will help the country’s development and economic recovery as the tourism sector contributes more than 15 per cent to the country’s GDP (Gross domestic product), including business travellers,” he said at a press conference.
He also added that the country’s aim of reopening borders is safe, and travellers do not have to wear digital trackers.
