There are many things in this world that we have yet to understand. One of them is intuition. It is just a feeling we get but may not have a logical explanation.
This is what a man experienced when he and his mother shared what would be their final hug.
The man whose family of 5 died in a car crash talks abt how in retrospect, the hug and kiss from his mother, in addition to the sombre atmosphere, should have foreshadowed the fatal accident to him.
The accident
The matter was shared by Mohammad Firdaus Mohd Rodhi, 35, the eldest of five siblings of the couple Mohd Rodhi Othman, 64, and Sharifah Rohana Syed Sagaf, 59, who died in the accident on Saturday (July 24, 2022).
The incident at Kilometer 62 of the Gerik-Jeli East-West Highway (JRTB) around 3.45pm also claimed the lives of Mohammad Firdaus’ younger sister, Siti Aishah, 32, her husband, Ahmad Khomainin Baba, 32, and their daughter, Zara Hana, 6.
Mohammad Firdaus said, the day before the incident, his family of five, who lives in Sungai Petani, Kedah went to Pasir Tumboh, Kelantan, to send another of his younger sisters to enrol in a study centre.
“Maybe it was a sign.”
According to him, they were supposed to return home on Sunday but pushed forward their journey back because they wanted to attend the funeral of a close relative who had died.
“That Friday morning when I came home to see them depart, mom greeted me and hugged me tightly. The situation at that time was a little strange; it felt like Hari Raya.”
“The atmosphere was also sad and different from usual, but I didn’t think much of it until this accident happened, after which I realized that maybe it was a sign that they would be gone forever,” he told Sinar Harian at the Gerik Hospital Mortuary on Saturday.
Mohammad Firdaus said that in the morning before the accident, he called his mother, and in the afternoon, a few hours before the incident, his younger sister had a video call with the other siblings.
“Mum told them they had all eaten and were getting ready to return. At around 2pm, my siblings had time to do a video call in the car, and they informed me that they had arrived at Jeli.”
“I think the mistake was that I didn’t have time to join the video call. Otherwise, I would have been able to see their faces for the last time,” he said.
Losing everyone
When he found out about the accident, he called the police and was informed that there were 10 victims involved, five of them dead.
“I thought the victims would be from two different vehicles, but little did I know that all five of them were my family members.”
“It is indeed sad, but this is the destiny we have to accept – losing 5 family members all at once,” he said.
May the family of Mohammad Firdaus rest in peace.
