After becoming a viral sensation with her 2019 Netflix reality series “Tidying Up,” where she played the role of a consultant to help people declutter their homes, Marie Kondo has become the image of a pristine home and an internet meme.
However, that image might be very much distorted now as she has revealed that her home is “messy”.
In a recent webinar where she promoted her latest book, “Marie Kondo’s Kurashi at Home: How to Organize Your Space and Achieve Your Ideal Life”, she says that she doesn’t tidy up her home as much as last time after the birth of her third child.
This doesn’t mean that she has entirely given up on tidying up spaces but rather, in her new book, she stressed that tidying mental and emotional spaces are of the same importance.
“Tidying up means dealing with all the ‘things’ in your life,” Kondo writes in the book. “So, what do you really want to put in order?” we quote from Variety.
During the webinar, she mentioned, “My home is messy, but the way I am spending my time is the right way for me at this time at this stage of my life. Up until now, I was a professional tidier, so I did my best to keep my home tidy at all times.”
“I have kind of given up on that in a good way for me. Now I realize what is important to me is enjoying spending time with my children at home.”
Well, this is what we call character growth! As time passes by, one’s priorities change and it’s certainly great that she doing what is right for her.
